Substorm is a decision tool for aurora photography: forecasts, alerts, and planning built on public scientific data. It's honest about uncertainty by design — but it is a forecast tool, not a guarantee. Auroras are unpredictable, and a "go" verdict can still end in clouds.
Night driving, remote locations, winter conditions, and private land are your responsibility. The app's drive times, access notes, and site suggestions are aids, not assurances — check conditions, road status, and land access yourself. Never rely on the app as your only safety or navigation tool in remote areas.
The free tier answers "is tonight worth it." A Pro subscription (billed through the App Store, Google Play, or Stripe) unlocks the full photographer's toolchain. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled in your store account; refunds follow the store's policies. You can restore purchases on a new device from Settings → Account.
Saved spots and field reports are yours. Field reports also feed the app's calibration (how far south a camera can really see aurora) in anonymous, aggregate form — never with your identity or exact spots attached.
Don't abuse the service: no scraping, reselling of alerts or data feeds, account sharing at scale, or attempts to bypass tier restrictions. We can suspend accounts that break these rules.
The service is provided "as is," without warranty. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Exploring Exposure is not liable for missed auroras, wasted drives, or any damages arising from use of the app.
